With all its tall peaks and crystalline waters, the Argentine Lake District is one of the World´s most spectacular mountains playgrounds – and remarkably un-known and unexplored by forigners.

The region stretches from the rugged wild-west town of Junín de los Andes in the North to the emerald waters of Cholila in the South.   The region surprises visitors with Alpine adventures, aquatic sports, fabulous wine and cuisine and cozy chalets and hotels.

The principal destinations in the Lake District are San Carlos de Bariloche, Villa La Angostura, San Martín de los Andes and El Bolsón.

The best way to cover the numerous National Parks and stunning lakeside scenery is to base yourself at one of the towns and strike out by car or boat to explore.

Nahuel Huapi National Park is the oldest, biggest and most visited National Park in Argentina.   It covers 705 square kilometres incorporating the towns of Bariloche and Villa la Angostura and it´s great lakes are the park´s most eye-catching feature.

Bariloche, perched on the edge of Lake Nahuel Huapi in the heart of the Argentina's first National Park, is rightly considered to be one of the most beautiful places on the continent.

Peaceful and sprawling among the trees on the northern shore of Lago Nahuel Huapi and within the boundary of Nahuel Huapi National Park, Villa La Angostura is a serious contender fo the title of Argentina´s loveliest town.

San Martín de los Andes is one of the few towns in patagonia that is aesthetically pleasing in it´s own right with its Alpine-style houses and log cabins.   Parque Nacional Lanín is accessible from here and is Argentinas third biggest park, boasting 35 lakes, dense alpine forests, the extinct Volcano – Lanín and abundant wild-life.   There are more than 50 Mapuche communities inthe Park.

Seven Lakes Route - Carved deeply into rich forests, it runs from San Martín de los Andes to Villa La Angostura, wiggling its way through the steep mountainsides of two of Argentinas most stunnin national parks; Lanín and Nahuel Huapi.
